The group in Vienna.
Center Austria director Professor Marc Landry traveled to Vienna, Austria from October 16-24, 2026 to participate in the annual meeting of the centers for Austrian Studies. A network of nine Centers for Austrian Studies exists worldwide, supported by the Austrian Ministry for Science and Research. In North America, centers are located here at LSU New Orleans, at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of Alberta. Other centers are located at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and Leiden University. This year, the meeting was held by the Austrian Center at the University of Vienna.
At these conferences, the students associated with the various centers present their research. Center Austria was pleased to be able to bring LSU New Orleans history MA student Jose Lozano to present his research on Austrian chancellor Clemens Metternich. Jose is doing his MA in International and Global History, and works full-time as a history teacher at Cabrini High School. The group also goes on various field trips.
