University of Vienna Geography Visit

The group from Vienna in front of University Center

Center Austria was delighted to welcome a group of geography students and their two professors to the UNO campus. They were on a two week tour of New Orleans and then New York City to learn about the challenges for "cities after crises." Climate change, sustainability, renewable energy, and economic development after natural disasters and the pandemic were topics of particular interest to them.  Their major professor, Dr. Martin Heintel, was a Marshall Plan Chair at UNO from 2006-2007.  The students were especially excited to meet top brass from the NOPD who told them about their police work. UNO's professor Marla Nelson spoke to them about economic and urban redevelopment in New Orleans.
