Veronika Duma studied history at the University of Vienna in Austria and visited UNO as a "Center Austria Visiting Junior Research Fellow" in February 2018. Duma had a productive stay under the supervision of Professor Guenter Bischof and was able to complete her Ph.D. while at the Center.

Professor Rollinger from the University of Innsbruck Department of Ancient History and Oriental Languages gave a talk on the Persian Empire and its vast extent. The discussion after the talk mainly concentrated on comparative empires and how today's regimes in Iran see themselves in the tradition of Cyrus the Great and his vast imperial ambitions.

Hans Petschar and Günter Bischof present their book on the Marshall Plan in a panel discussion with Ewald Hiebl and Norwegian Film historian Maria Fritsche in the old library of the University of Salzburg in the course of an international colloquium, Transformative Recovery? The European Recovery Program (ERP)/Marshall Plan in European Tourism.
Bosnian artist Aida Sehovic presented her project " Sto Te Nema" on February 22nd at UNO's International Center. The title translates into "Where are you? Where have you been?" and is an artist's way of talking about the genocide at Srebrenica, Bosnia.
Center Austria is delighted to host a group of geography students from the University of Vienna in Austria. The students and their professors, Martin Heintel and Norbert Weixlbaumer, are in New Orleans to learn about regional development in the South.
