Swedish Neutrality and Security: Past and Present

 Aryo Makko graduated with degrees in History and Political Science from the University of Gothenburg and received his Ph.D. in History from Stockholm University in 2012. He has held visiting posts at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, the University of Oxford and Harvard University. He was selected as a Pro Futura Scientia XI Fellow by the Swedish Collegium of Advanced Study in Uppsala and appointed Associate Professor (Docent) in 2016.

His main fields of research include the international history of the nineteenth and twentieth century with particular focus on Europe and the Middle East. He is currently writing a monograph on the United Kingdoms of Sweden-Norway during the Age of Empire and co-editing a volume on European Neutrality and the Soviet Union for the Harvard Cold War Studies Book Series and will take up a five-year research project entitled Neutrality and the Kremlin: A Transnational History in July 2017.
