The current economic crisis is a stark reminder that we cannot take robust performance for granted. Nonetheless this is not the first time companies have faced a frightening economic environment. A team from Innsbruck University conducted a 5-year study of 18 European companies that survived and thrived for more than 100 years. These companies mastered the Great Depression, two World Wars, and two oil crises. Their experiences will shed light on how to master turbulent times and achieve enduring success.
