Center Austria congratulates Marlies Vitzthum and Philipp Strobl. Marlies came to UNO as an undergraduate student in International Business and Philipp as a graduate student in History. On Friday, December 17th 2010, Marlies graduated with an MBA and Philipp with an MA in History.

As part of the tenth anniversary celebrations of the art exchange program between the City of Innsbruck / Galerie im Andechshof and the University of New Orleans / Fine Arts Department, seventeen Tyrolean artists who over the last ten years have exhibited their works in New Orleans were invited to realize a special project in serigraphy.
Dr. Charles Hadley, UNO Research Professor Emeritus, long-time chair of the Political Science Department and frequent lecturer at the University of Innsbruck, analyzing election midterm results and the “Tea Party” resurgence in the Austrian daily Der Standard.

UNO’s CenterAustria is hosting the 2010 annual meeting of Austrian Studies Centers from around the world. After Austrian Centers in Minneapolis, Edmonton, and Jerusalem hosted the previous meetings, it is New Orleans’ turn this year to welcome Center directors along with graduate students in the Crescent City. The Federal Ministry of Science and Research in Vienna is generously sponsoring this event and will be represented by its General Secretary Friedrich Faulhammer.

Mag. Franz Roessler studied Business Administration at the University of Graz and the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. He served as commercial attaché at the Austrian Embassies in Beijing and Washington, D.C., and then as the Regional Director for South-Eastern Europe for the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber. Since 2006 he has been the Austrian Trade Commissioner in Chicago.
