Dr. Eva Nowotny, Austrian Ambassador to the United States, during the  Ten Year Anniversary Celebration of UNO's CenterAustria transferred the "Grosse Ehrenzeichen für Verdienste um die Republik Österreich"
[Grand Cross of Austria] (2007) awarded by the President of Austria to Guenter Bischof, Chairman of the UNO History Department and Director of CenterAustria for his scholarship on contemporary Austrian history and his promotion of Austrian Studies in the US.

Guenter is sharing this award with Gertraud Griessner and Margaret Davidson who worked with him in CenterAustria since the beginning of CenterAustria and his wife Melanie.
